Our consciousness is like light. There is a continuous spectrum of light frequencies. Many of those frequencies are too slow or too fast for us to perceive them and are therefore invisible to us. Our awareness is like the visible spectrum in the middle of the whole spectrum of consciousness. Much of our consciousness is called the sub-conscious and it is outside of our awareness. The sub-conscious is like the machinery in the basement that we never see but it keeps the whole mechanism working. Much of our consciousness is called the super-conscious and is also outside our awareness. We are only aware of the little spot in the middle of the whole spectrum.
